ORGANIZATIONS

  • Alzheimer's Association Tons of information and free courses you can take to learn more.  I’ve got this site bookmarked!

  • The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration FTD falls under the umbrella of dementia but is less common than Alzheimer’s.  A great site for caregivers of loved ones living specifically with this form of dementia.

  • Caregiver Worksheets from National Institute on Aging Easy to use worksheets to help caregivers manage everything from organizing a loved one’s chores to medications.

  • Dementia Care This VA website has links to many different videos produced by UCLA Health which address issues such as refusal to bathe, sleep disturbances, and sundowning.

  • Dementia Careblazers This series has become my go-to place for practical caregiver advice and encouragement.  Available on youtube and as a podcast.

  • Dementia Matters Podcast A very insightful podcast geared to the more technical and medical side of dementia.

  • Legal Checklist for Caregivers One of the first things to do when someone is diagnosed with dementia is to get all the necessary legal documents in place.  Not having these documents can create frictions and roadblocks in helping your loved one get the help they need.

  • Project Lifesaver A national program that helps caregivers locate and reunite with individuals who are prone to wandering.  I registered my husband through our local police department partners.
